Migrations are judged on one weekend. This template is for the IT or platform lead who has to explain to a steering committee what happens before cutover, what happens during, and what the safety net looks like afterwards.

A Gantt with milestones fits because a migration has both long grinding phases and sharp irreversible moments. Discovery and data migration waves are durations; cutover and go/no-go are dates. Drawing them together lets a committee see that the pilot ends two weeks before cutover, or — more usefully — that it does not, and something has to give.

Migration waves are just repeated tasks with different date ranges, so you can add wave three without redesigning anything.
